Jigsaw’s Alaskan Cod Liver Oil is fished in Dutch Harbor, Alaska (have you seen the popular show The Deadliest Catch? Yup, we catch our codfish from the same place).
To learn more about “The Healthiest Catch” check out this video featuring Ashley Leroux and Thomas DeLauer.
Thomas explains why our process (which begins on the boat), is so important for locking in the nutrients and freshness of the cod liver.
The livers are extracted and frozen at -20 degrees Fahrenheit directly on the fishing vessel immediately after the Cod is long-line caught (within an hour).
This is particularly important to stop the liver’s natural enzymatic function and degradation and avoids oxidation. It's fresh from sea to softgel.*
Like regular fish oil, cod liver oil is high in omega-3 fatty acids like EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) which provide many great health benefits for your heart, skin and brain.*
However, cod liver oil is also high in naturally occurring vitamin A and vitamin D as well a third type of omega-3 fatty acid called DPA (Docosapentaenoic Acid); aka. “The Forgotten Omega”.
Jigsaw Alaskan Cod Liver Oil also preserves pro-resolving mediators - a recent discovery and similar nutrient of which is found in mother's breastmilk that supports healthy immune and neurological function.*
