Brain Injury: Common Causes
The causes of brain injury are pretty obvious. Anything from constant jarring of the head (like in such sports as football) to being in a serious car, bike, or falling accident can result in concussions. A concussion can cause damage to the HPA axis, and repeated concussions can be very dangerous because of the damage that they cause. This is becoming a more widely recognized fact due to media attention of multiple concussion-related deaths. What is not widely recognized are the more subtle effects that brain injury can have on a person’s physical health and mental well-being.
