What You Don’t Know About
Inflammation Can Quietly
Kill You
If you’ve ever been cut, stung, scraped, or bruised, then you can see that the inflammation that follows is how your body responds to an “assault.” What you may not know is that internal inflammation can provoke a whole range symptoms and conditions that can put your life in danger.
You are what you eat. And what you eat can lead to some of the country’s leading chronic killers. An imbalance of the essential fatty acids can not only leave you seriously deficient but can cause chronic inflammation—and what researchers now say is the marker for heart disease, diabetes, depression, cancer, and more.
The 2000 German and Austrian Olympic teams had a leg up on the competition. Instead of treating pain and inflammation due to injury with cortisone and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), team trainers started giving athletes systemic enzymes.
Omega-3 and
omega-6 oils
are called “ess- ential” because the body has to have them to survive. Because the body cannot manufacture these fatty acids on its own, you must get them from the diet or from nutritional supplements. Many, if not most, Americans are significantly deficient in omega-3 and some omega-6 oils which has led to a near epidemic of inflammatory conditions including cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and IBD to name just a few.
